A native to Puyallup Washington Butler was interested in performing arts as she grew in her teens. She was a singer in choirs, entered singing competitions and performed in schools and in community theatre. The actress moved to Los Angeles to study theatre at the University of Southern California and was later Belle the princess in Beauty and the Beast for one year and a half at Disneyland. Although initially put off by the films nakedness and violence the strong character development and feminist edge helped convince her to take the role.Butler was in the film as Jennifer Hills a novelist who has been brutally raped by gangs while living in a cabin the woods. She will then take revenge against her attackers. Steven R. Monroe, director of the film, made it available on the 8th of October 2010. Butler began shooting The Stranger Within with Estella and William Baldwin, the psychological thriller, on Mallorca in November 2011. The film was shot in addition to New York City and Copenhagen The film was scheduled for filming on location in Copenhagen Denmark. She also became part of the crew for Treachery that featured Michael Biehn. The independent feature film started filming in Los Angeles in early 2012. Butler co-starred with Michael Welch in 2013's horror film The Demented.
